PS166 rock CAN roll food drive

At the end of January, I received a call from my friend asking if we could help her out. She told me that there were children at PS166 in Long Island City, coming to school without winter jackets! Two brothers, she said, were sharing 1 coat! So, we put a call out to friends that I thought may have a gently used jacket or two to donate to the these kids. A week later, rock CAN roll was able to deliver the most beautiful coats to the kids in Queens! In addition, we were able to provide hats, mittens and scarves for the kids, just before that big snow.

A week later, we received a call from a guidance counselor at school thanking us for the amazing donation. One of the kids, she said, received a coat with his favorite sports team on it.and it was his birthday! The school was so appreciative of what we could do for them; they wanted to help us in return! They told us that their school participated in the Penny Harvest Program, and they had $1,000 to donate to a charity of their choice.and the student council chose rock CAN roll roll to be the recipient! In addition to the generous donation, at the school's recent parent/teacher conferences, the student council decided to help others in need. They deemed the conferences to be a rock CAN roll event, and over 400 pounds of food was collected! The food was delivered to a shelter a half a mile away! Talk about paying it forward... Easter Baskets
Alpha Chi Rho Fraternity unloading Apple & Eve Juice.

Thank you to the ALPHA CHI RHO Fraternity. This group of brothers is so community minded. We have had the pleasure of working together on some wonderful projects over the past year and a half. They were on site, loading up trucks of donated goods at the rock CAN roll Thanksgiving Katrina Relief Project, in November 05, helped out with the Tribute Concert, and most recently were on hand to unload the pallet (3,600 juice boxes) from Apple and Eve. So often, people forget that there is a wealth of student talent here on LI. These kids are terrific!

Thank you! The juice was distributed, thanks to our driver Bill from Outdoor Visibility, to agencies around the Island; Port Washington - Port Jefferson - Patchogue-Riverhead-East Hampton!
